Okay, not exactly what we were looking for
We were looking for ideas to redo our 70's redo bathroom in our 20's house, but we didn't really find much of what were looking for in this book. The like titled kitchen book on comparison, was much better.
Useful, could be better
I have a few problems with this otherwise useful book. Not all of the colors in the photos are true; when the caption says "turquoise and lavender" and the picture shows green and pink, there is something amiss. This kind of color misprint occurs in several of the photos. Don't depend on the photos for accurate period colors! Also, most of the bathrooms shown in the photos are large! Many bungalows were small with small bathrooms. It would be nice, and useful too, to have some pictures of dinky bungalow bathrooms. Also, I like at least a few floor plans. Photos don't always give you an accurate idea of the actual layout and dimensions. I admit that I am jealous of almost every one of the bathrooms shown. My 1930 bungalow has one small low-end original bath (if it ever had tile, it's long gone) and one minimal 3/4 bath added in the 1950s.
Historically accurate awesomeness
This book full of historical accuracy - if that's your passion like it is mine, then you will love this book. It is NOT a "Here's the latest HGTV Craftsman trend" book, it is a book that tells you about original features, tiles, floors, tubs, toilets, etc. Some of these photos are museum-quality representations of an authentic bungalow bathroom. It's a fantastic read and is my favorite design and inspiration source for our upcoming bathroom renovation.
