Review #1: Very Boring
Review #2: Fantastic book
Review #3: One of the least interesting novels I have read.

Review #1

Very Boring

I was required to read this novel for my freshman English class in high school. It was definitely not an enjoyable experience. It seemed to me that the plot moved in a generally circular fashion, with the same things happening over and over again. Ms Buck gives her characters no depth and does little to draw in the reader. Reaching the end of this book brought a great feeling of relief over me. I would not read this book again or recommend it to anyone. I'm not entirely sure why Oprah is so thoroughly intoxicated by this piece.

Review #2

Fantastic book

I read this book in middle school in the 1970's and read it again 30 years later. I liked it when I was a teen but appreciated it so much more when I read it in my 40's. It's a great book.

Review #3

One of the least interesting novels I have read.

I do not think this book will appeal to the younger crowd. I read this book in high school and absolutely disliked it. I'm now 23 and still rate this as the least interesting novel I have read to date. There is nothing to learn from this book. If you like to read books for learning purposes, as I do, then you will likely not enjoy this book.
